The white two-story building with the belfry was Southwest Harbor’s first high school before the building was turned ninety degrees and moved to become the Harmon Block at 337 Main Street. Gilley Plumbing, later the Gilley Plumbing Company, is visible beyond the school building.

The second car from the left is a 1916 Overland Model 83B 5 or 7-passenger touring car. The third car from left is a 1916 Hudson Super Six 5 or 7-passenger phaeton. The last car on the right is probably a 1912 Cadillac 7-passenger touring car. In 1940 the phone number for Southwest Motor Company was 51-2.
